If you run payroll for a school or trust, you already know that it’s not like payroll anywhere else. Various positions, salary allowances, term contracts, overdue payments, TPS, LGPS, sometimes private pensions go hand in hand – one of them is at fault and it is the staff member who feels it first, especially at retirement.
But payroll errors don’t stop there. Just one mistake can have devastating consequences, creating extra work, awkward conversations and wider challenges for the school or trust long after the pay slip is received.
Paul Haywood, Product Management Manager at Every Payroll Services, sees this firsthand:
“Employees may feel payroll errors at first, but employers will feel the impact. Whether it is pension reporting issues, HMRC compliance concerns or simply the impact on staff confidence, the consequences of payroll errors can be significant.”
That complexity is why so many MAT business managers and financial leaders are wary of handing over salaries to others. So, let’s face these myths head-on.
Usually what happens is just the opposite. With Every Payroll Services by IRIS, you receive online access and visibility of your employee data. Payroll reports and management information for approval before pay day – nothing goes ahead without your approval, and changes are implemented exactly as instructed.
You don’t just give your salary away. You move it to where it is managed, while you remain in full control.
Education pensions are truly niche: different tiers, different contribution rules, different reporting deadlines depending on the Teachers’ Pension Scheme. Each Local Government Pension Scheme, and major occupational schemes – require data in different formats and administrations to suit their pension strategies. If a Trust operates in many countries, this may mean dealing with many pension funds each month.
Why trust us to provide outsourced payroll:
“We specialize in education and retirement payroll. Our team keeps up with changing laws and works with you to ensure employees are paid correctly, on time, every time. We provide professional, quality payroll and pension services that enable you to provide quality education to your students. You don’t have to worry about absences or holidays. We are here every weekday to support you.”
Each Payroll Service is run by a team that specializes in education and retirement payroll only. They handle all data submissions and returns, including year-end work for HMRC, TPS, LGPS and P60s for staff – so you’re not relying on one person’s institutional knowledge to get it right.
Smaller schools and trusts often have limited backup or disaster recovery if their internal systems fail. Specialist providers typically have more resilience and governance, not less.
Each Payroll Service is cloud-native, so there is no on-premises infrastructure to maintain, backup, or protect. As a BACS approved agency, payments to staff, HMRC and pension providers are also made directly, without you needing separate BACS software adding additional costs.
This resilience is also supported by formal processes and accreditation. Each Payroll Service recently renewed its ISO accreditation again, supporting the processes, security and disaster recovery standards behind the service.
This one usually ignores the entire cost of running an in-house payroll: the salary of a payroll specialist, vacation and sick cover, ongoing training on laws that change every year, and software licensing.
Outsourcing to Any Payroll Service eliminates your single point of failure – reliance on one staff member to keep up with every legislative change and execute payroll and retirement cycles correctly, on time, every time.
Term contracts, outdated salary awards, mid-year starts and graduations – education salaries rarely run at a flat monthly rhythm.
Every Payroll Service is linked directly to Every HR by IRIS, so changes made to your HR system – new starts, changes to bank details, switching to maternity pay – flow directly to your payroll without duplicating data entry.
Outsourcing your payroll processing doesn’t mean neglecting your own data. You still receive complete reporting and management information before each pay day, plus end-of-month reports and payroll journals for your financial system.
For MAT, Every Payroll Services also runs as many payroll payments as you need, at any time of the month, across schools with different terms, conditions and local authority pension schemes.
Some providers rotate who handles your payroll each month. This is a legitimate concern – but not universal.
Paul explains:
“When customers call us, they speak directly with payroll processors and retirement administrators, not a call center. The people who answer the phone understand their school or faith, know their payroll settings and can provide meaningful support right away.”
This is especially important when queries are complex, time-sensitive, or private.
Kim Rodwell, School Business Manager at Loughton Manor First School, made the switch after a bad experience with her previous provider. Regarding his new payroll advisor, he said:
“He was absolutely amazing from day one. He is always calm and tries to think his way out of any problem.”
Switching payroll providers can feel like a big risk, especially if the local authority has given notice that they will be withdrawing payroll provisions. But a well-managed transition is a project with a plan, not a mess – and the implementation contacts mentioned will stay with you throughout.
According to Paul, concerns about switching service providers is one of the most common objections he hears:
“We have been helping schools and trusts move service providers for many years. Our implementation and project specialists guide customers through every stage, providing training, resources and support long before the first paycheck is processed. We understand the pressures schools and institutions are under and we have done everything we can to simplify the process.”
As Kim Rodwell says:
“The process of moving from our previous supplier to Every Payroll Services was explained very clearly, and they understood my concerns.”
Outsourcing payroll and pensions services for schools and trusts is not about losing control, visibility or personal service. It’s about mitigating risk, protecting staff salaries, and ensuring your payroll is supported by people who understand education payroll in depth.
Kim, School Business Manager at Loughton Manor First School, sums it up simply:
“I can’t tell you how different things are with Every Payroll Services – the burden I have taken on is enormous.”
If your LA has withdrawn payroll provisions, or your current processes are too reliant on one person, it’s worth taking a closer look at Any Payroll Service.

PakarPBN
A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
